We also saw Refs deduct a point from two fighters on Saturday, both from the home fighter..??
Whatever the scenario - its not a good look where there doesn't seem to be a single poster thinking Ryder won the fight. I only listened to it, so not going to judge it per se.
We can flip it an ask why we getting substandard non British officiating in British rings. Doesn't matter if the "british judge got it right" - if the wrong decision happened, the wrong decision happened.

Very close fight. Don't see any real controversy in the result. It was close. There isn't a sport in the world in which the home team doesn't get the rub of the green more often than not. Think people are making this out to be something it isn't.

Think its just the volume of "dodgy" calls as opposed to this fight per se. I was only listening on the radio but it seemed like Bunce, McIntosh and Woodhall all scored it for Jacobs (the latter two didn't give their final round score but it sounded like a Jacobs round) - but before the decision was announced I was going "Ryder's got this" - not good where you have to at least be 3 rounds up to feel you are getting a decision - Shades of Germany in the noughties.
Sounds like (only going on the radio and the views) that Jacobs won more rounds, but Ryder won his rounds bigger.

This wasn't a bad decision though. Smith v Ryder was a bad decision.
I feel both fighters won a minimum of 5 rounds. The judges scores reflected this.

British officials are horrific in most sports. Sometimes I think they get off on making naughty decisions.
That Ryder fight was easy to score… relatively speaking. Ringside, tv, 40 quid tickets, from the corner…
7-5 is bang on… but no way John won 7 rounds.

I have 2/3 points for Jacobs. A draw can be questionable, but the victory for Ryder no, it's not fair.

Boxing certainly isn’t alone in having crap officials, just look at the bloody awful refereeing at football matches. Premier League officials even get the advantage of having VAR at their disposal, and they still get loads of things wrong!

Just rewatched Smith vs Ryder. Still absolutely disgusting that. I had it 116-112 to John so I’m happy he got lucky vs Jacobs.
Forgot that Lee had Smith up by 2.

Just got round to watching this as I was working the night it happened.
Thought it was razor thin, nothing really wrong with the decision. A draw or either man by a round or two would have been fine in my book.
Really not sure what everyone is getting so upset about, there have been far worse decisions in British rings than this.
Maybe it is about time Ryder got the benefit of the doubt from the judges, he was on the wrong end against Smith, Fielding and Arnfield.
