margaret thatcher wrote: 27 Dec 2020, 10:03 you quoted my post, whicch started by asking if you'd rather win a lonsdale or win a world title, and you posted:

"The Lonsdale Belt by far - it is one of the oldest and prestigious professional boxing belts on the planet."

if that's not what you meant sorry bruh but seemed that way to me?

I still didn't state which one I would rather win - I just made a statement of fact that the Lonsdale Belt is one of the oldest and most prestigious belts in professional boxing - that's it.

They're scumbags who have single handedly destroyed Boxing's greatest legacy. Sulaiman deserves to die.
The compassionate left.
What's Left and Right got to do with some asshole sabotaging a sport?

Well ... Keep the Ring.

The rest are golden trinkets that are useful to get fighters a decent payday to be marketed as "world champ". Also a champion may only defend once or twice a year, so other top, top guys need some of that championship money & to set up unifications, etc.

The Ring isn't absolutely perfect, but pretty much aligns with boxing websites and neutral fans opinions of rankings.

The fact that all these world titles carry weight means that there is space for up to 4 top boxers to get some special limelight and build themselves up.

Previously I would have said the WBC, but they’ve really been annoying lately by creating a ‘special’ belt for any particular occasion and this Bridgeweight thing is the last straw.

I try not to pay too much attention to who holds what belt these days and more focus on the quality of opposition etc...

The Lonsdale Belt is, intrinsically, the most valuable.

They are 9ct gold and very well made.

The "world" title belts are worthless in monetary terms. They are made with PU leather and low quality plating.

I think it would be great if the top promoters (Bob, Al, Hearn, Golden Boy) came together and said unless changes are made they won’t continue to pay the sanctioning fees and promote fights for the titles.

There’s no point in one just doing it as the others would use it as a negotiation point over the others but if all of the big boys came together then they may be able to drive change.

Simply put I’d be ok with having 4 world champs (I haven’t known it any other way) if each organisation just had one champ.

The WBC (which was my favourite organisation until the last few years) have massively let themselves down with the gold, silver and now all the franchise bullshit coupled with a new weight division that no one seems to have wanted.

The WBA let themselves down a good few years back with the stupid idea of having at least a couple of world champs in each division coupled with needless interim champs.

The WBO/IBF don’t have the history the other 2 do but have questionable rankings. At least the IBF are seemingly fair and, I would guess, have the fewest champions/interims. The WBO love an interim and there’s been far too many times where they’ve had completely unknown African fighters in their top 15 that have no business being inside the top 150. The IBF albeit to a lesser extent.

If I had to pick one to keep I’d go with the IBF - at least the chances of them sticking with one champ per weight division would be higher.

You can buy a new belt for 300 quid, that is their value. Obv the lonsdale os worth much more but nothing like what it used to be, i'm not even sure it has any gold in it these days

The title does say ‘which belt’..

wbc has the nicest belt. Looks most prestigious.

That’s my opinion. I always like the WBA belt, cuz it’s got a crown on it aswell. But looks a little generic.

If the thread title said “which gov body” then the poll would be different.

The WBC Belt looks like sh*t. PIctures of faces on it and sh*t. Looks like a lame ass little league prize.

IBF and WBA absolutely blow it away as far as prestigious looking designs.

My answer would've been the same. Get rid of 'em all.

All of 'em are crooks.

Agree about the WBO as well. There's a reason why it wasn't considered as important as the other 3 when I first started following the sport.
