Totally agree, however the problem with these clauses is that the big name fighter is happy to just pay the penalties for the advantage, and also that fighters won't turn down a payday that close to the event, because they rely on the money.
In an ideal world, we would have a proper governing body for the sport, and the penalties would be so severe for failing to make weight, that people simply wouldn't take the piss by not even attempting to do so.

The best way for him to make more money is to win a couple of fights and then fight Khan, not reduce costs on his trainer.

I think it was badly worded as later on he says Gerald McClellan should have stayed with Steward.

So basicly he's saying Brooks needs him , but on the other hand saying he does'nt have the time to give him the full attention because he has others .
. So if he does'nt have time for a guy at the tail end of his carreer who's been with him since a kid , it sort of shows where he is at as a trainer , very mercenary , hard world the boxing world .
Hope Billy Joe and the others are taking note , when they get too within a couple of fights left , is it gonna be ,,, Off you go ,,,, NEXT
