maybe in the same way the likes of wilder and joshua count as nigerian heavyweights, or the americans with an irish side of the family count as irish

2 irish heavies on boxrec is crazy to me. ya the irish population is small but that doesnt stop them from having many good fighters at other weights. very good ams too.

uk has 59 active hws, about 30x that of ireland despite having only 13x the population
Yes but realisticly , how many of that 59 would be of African , Jamaicn descent , bigger guys geneticly how many are white from UK background opposed to irish background ,, i would'nt really know but would guess , take away black heavyweights in the UK from african , carribean backgrounds , and i doubt we would be too far in front of irish heavyweights
Yea although the number 1 is white. Also Joe Joyce’s father is Irish 😁😁😁😁

I remember reading about him in some of the Naz/Ingle books, remember his real name made me chuckle too, Fidel Castro Smith. Father was clearly a communist! Had some tough fights - James Cook, Wharton, Nardiello. Wonder what he went on to do after. He was listed as a social worker at some point.

Paddy Reilly was a good black Irish heavyweight too. Now he calls himself Clifton Mitchell oddly.

that's the one. My mate is Mick's age and is from Rotherham, was and is very close friends with him. Ran a door firm around there until his son died tragically young. His stories about Mick are brilliant. The gent Mick lived an insane lifestyle, could have done so much more in the ring if he'd lived the life. Regardless, what a chap.

excellent. He was mentioned in an interview between Dave Allen and his father (also Dave Allen) recently, as his father was a pro for Ingle's gym at the same time as Mick. 22:30 in

Average height of an Irish man is 5ft 10, same as UK average. And 20th out of 200 countries so a bit of a myth that Irish people are hobbits. Although my father is from Fermanagh and a shortarse.

He did, although that title is one of the most worthless and weakest titles ever. It is worse than any fringe belt in history. It has only been contested 6 times in 75 years since 1949. And all of the people before Fury were objectively shite. The Irish HW title means less than nothing.

God no James. I'm a moron but not that moronic. I was being silly - there are only 2 current Irish HW pros so therefore if Joe comes back he's in the top 3....out of 3.

After David Price KO'd John McDermott in 1 round, the BBBoC called for purse bids for Tyson Fury to defend his British title against Price. Fury vacated the British title and Andy Lee's father signed an affidavit (proclaiming that Fury's grandmother was Irish) so that Fury could then fight Martin Rogan for the Irish title.
