Well, I am trying to lose 60 lbs (5 stone_ before December 1st...
So if anyone can advise me I'd ber really thankful.
If I can do it, me and my girlfriend will be getting engaged.

The most important thing is to train hard and regular. However for weight loss diet is prob 80% of it

i've lost close to 40ib from my heaviest, basically all i've done is switch to having smaller portions, cutting some snacks and doing 2mile runs 3 times a week

what kidn of weights? - squats lunges etc?
anyway for sprints as long as you do whatever weights and make it explosive in order to faciliate fast twitch muscles..
edurance running light weights ots ofreps i belive works endurance..

All serious sports professionals such as soccer and tennis players use leg training with weights in order to reduce the risk of injury and build strength. So no. But if you're going to do body building so that your legs look like a weight lifters legs, then of course, you won't be able to run as quickly.King Tubby wrote:Would using weights machines for your legs help or hinder your running?

Crease that's around 28 kilos in 25 weeks. That's one kilo a week. That's pretty hard going. Just doing the maths. Your body needs around 9000kJ to maintain heat, electricity, your heart and digest. If you eat less than that, your body burns it's reserves i.e. fat. One kilo is 35000kJ. So to lose 1 kilo of fat per week, you have to burn around 4000kJ per day. To give you an idea, 5000kJ is the following
1000kj - Breakfast - Two pieces of toast, with diet margerine, no topping and 100ml of low fat milk
1000kJ - Lunch - Bread roll, dry, nothing on it + big bowl of salad, no dressing, no cheese, no croutons.
500kJ - Snack - One large apple or large banana
2400kJ - Dinner - One small-medium bowl of pasta with a tomato based source, with a few vegies added.
100kJ - Snack - One decent sized carrot.
That's ok for a week, but long term, that sucks. You can add sport, to increase your calorie/KJal consumption, but 20 minutes of running earns you jsut 1000kJ more to eat.
Doable, but a long hard road.

Everyone is different. What works for someone will have no effect on someone else and will even injure someone else so taking advice from anyone is pointless unless its a top class personal trainer who has given you a thorough assessment and catered for your specific needs while taking all weaknesses/injuries into consideration. And that's just my opinion I'm no trainer.

With a combination of healthy:
Cut out the booze
Ate loads of fruits and veg
No take-away/ junk food
And the unhealthy:
Ate maximum 2 meals a day, 1 of which was always salad or soup. Having lots of small meals is obviously much healthier but I'd never feel full and so would carry on eating until I did.
I lost 40kg's in about 6 months when I was 20. Since then my weight has gradually come down to 85kg's but I'm actually looking at putting on some weight now. It could be my metabolism or whatever but I find it pretty easy to lose and put on weight.

Sorry fella, but have to disagree to an extent - take diet for example, I defy anyone on here to follow a paleo routine and not derive benefits. The same is the case for compound movements with free weights such as squats, deadlifts etc and cardio interval training. The idea that someone could be following a routine that is based around the above but it having "no effect" on them is simply not plausible.Andypittcov wrote:Everyone is different. Not eating can lead to very marginal benifits. I often went to the gym early morning and then skipped breakfast.
