Which active fighters belong in the Hall of Fame now
Which active fighters belong in the Hall of Fame now
I think the one drawback about the Hall of Fame is that fighters have to be retired before they are selected. Okay, I can see the reasoning in that. We only have to look at Michael Nunn - currently on trial for cocaine dealing - and Don Curry, two potentially great fighters who bombed, to see that.
But some fighters are so great it doesn't matter what happens at the tail-end of their careers. Evander Holyfield deserves to be in there NOW in my opinion. So does Roy Jones, Johnny Tapia and Arturo Gatti. Any other additions?

Barerra for me has done just enough, Toney may do before he's done. Holyfield, Lewis, Tszyu possibly, RJJ, Hopkins will make it, DLH, Mosley, depends on what he does from now on, not done enough yet, Chavez (still active just about), Tyson (for being youngest heavy champ ever if nothing else), Larry Holmes, not long retired.
I reckon Gatti might get in there, it's not just based on achievement.
Sadly, Ottke may make it in too. Let's hope not.

I think he might go on to rule that division, he's big enough, and if anything looks like he might be stronger at that weight, it's odd how everyone kind of forgot about him, even though he gave Barrera hell in both fights, and Barrera went on to be the big noise.
There's a lot of good fights out there for Morales, and I wouldn't put my money on anyone beating him with any certainty. He's still remarkably only 27 too!
