Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
Title fight records would help. Does the commish have easy access to these?
Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
Those who just missed out of consideration were:
Lennox Lewis, Vitali Klitschko and Joe Frazier.
Lewis has been unstable on year, he has struggled for consistency and although he has had 2 major World Title reigns... He could not be described as a top fighter this season.
The elder Klitschko's case is very much like Lennox's, with 2 title triumphs but little or no consistently high ranking...
Joe Frazier has only had the one major title reign, but that combined with two smaller triumphs of the WBU strap just aren't enough for a top 6 consideration.
Anyway, here is how they break down:
Joe Frazier: (DetroitHxc)
Accolades:
Original WBU Champion (Week 6)
Three Time Defender of WBU Title (Week 7, 8, 9)
Million Dollar Tournament knocked out third in Group E
Individual Titles
x1 time IBF Champion (Week 12)
x1 time WBU Champion (Week 6)
Lennox Lewis: (Sav)
Accolades:
None
Individual Titles:
x1 time WBC Champion: (Week 16)
x1 time IBF Champion (Week 32)
Vitali Klitschko: (The End)
Accolades:
Prizefighter Series One Semi Finalist
Prizefighter Series Two Finalist
Individual Titles:
x1 time IBF Champion (Week 13)
x1 time WBC Champion (Week 21)

Yes he does. I was in the process of recording every title fight, but my computer crashed 2 weeks ago.jBacca wrote:Title fight records would help. Does the commish have easy access to these?
Even so Mr. Jbacca, I don't think that title fights tell the whole story do you?
I am just voting for who I think are the 6 best fighters this season.

Ali
Marciano
Dempsey
Louis
Jackson?
Tyson?
?
I'm having trouble making a decision, I need to see title defenses and quality of opposition before making my decision, the first four I picked should be a lock but the rest i'm unsure about, Jackson and Tyson won alot of belts but they also lost the title just as many times, length of title reigns plays a part of my decision here, so i'm holding off till I can see those stats.

E.g. Louis is a 5 or 6 time champion as is Jackson. Then you've got Dempsey who's on a similar stat but who has been far more consistent at the top.

I'll save you the trouble of checking: They've never fought.ben k wrote:I will have to check, but im sure Jackson beat Tyson twice![]()

Also, this isn't a title fight, which means it's a certain Tyson win.
Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
Jeannette's performances in recent weeks have definitely ruled him out.

Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
And for the record, this new format is utter crap. Could be the death of Boxrec.
Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
Ali also has an early season win over Jackson.
Agree about the format, sucks horse cock.

Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
I don't think people are looking at resumes as a whole. There is a top vote getter, that in all honesty, I don't see how he would be in.....
Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
He is not in contention, as he hasn't been in the top 12 most succesful fighters this season...JDC wrote:Where the fuck is Schmeling?

Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
That is an exhaggeration Jai. Dempsey has not been "far more consistent" than Joe, Louis has also done well agaoinst other top 10 fighters this season.jBacca wrote:Louis is a 5 or 6 time champion as is Jackson. Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
Frankly I am surprised that Joe Louis has received so little votes. I can only assume that other Managers are letting their dislike of me reflect in ther chices and as such, are not being objective...
Marciano, Ali & Dempsey have probably been the top 3 ranked fighters consistently throughout this season... But Joe Louis is porbably the number 4.
Louis should be in ahead of Tyson, Johnson, Holmes, Lewis, Jeanette & Jackson.
Tyson has been inconsistent against top fighters...(4-8 in title fights)
Lennox Lewis has dipped out of the top 10 rankings on numerous occasions, and due to this he could not be said to be in the top 6 fighters.
Peter Jackson (twice) avoided mandatory challenges for world title(s)... his is perhaps the reason he has had so many title reigns, once he wins a title, he drops it and is in the title fightoff the following week.
Also, Jackson spent a 5-week spell outside of the top 10 rankings, and he's had a poor second half of the season.
Larry Holmes had a terrible first 20 weeks of the season... This weigh down his prospects a hell of a lot.
Joe Jeanette overachieved this season, but he didn't spend that many weeks as a top 10 fighter. And is his WBU reign against second-rate fighters really good enough to put him in the top 6?
Unlike Holmes and Jackson (who have both had poor half-seasons)... Joe Louis has been a consistent top 10 fighter all throughout the season, his ranking never slipped out of the title rankings.
And, he was twice avoided as a mandatory challenger, making him offically the most ducked fighter in the Sim.

Re: The Super Six: Top Candidates
Holmes had a bad opening 8 weeks of the season, not 20. Most of his loses have been tough breaks to boot. He has 3 decision losses you could say he easily could have won (One he definitely won), he has two stoppage losses on cuts while up on the cards (One up 14-0 in rounds, complete joke) and he has hanged tough in all his losses but one.Crease wrote: Larry Holmes had a terrible first 20 weeks of the season... Louis did himself no favors on open defense week, fighting some weak opposition. Plus he's fight what, 8 or 9 cpu controlled fights (At that tiime), and half of those guys never even got picked up to be managed during the season....
Louis should be in the top 6 most likely.......but he has under preformed......
