Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
Just seen this on twitter, no reason was given with it, one of a select few of fighters to reach the 100 fight mark.
He can look back at his career with some quiet satisfaction.

Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
Sid punches back less and less nowadays. He's got a good chin but the board is right on this one.
Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
Not such a bad thing, it may mean we see more prospects matched against each other in 50/50 fights rather than know the result before the fight starts.bigped wrote:you keep on withdrawing guys like these licenses be no decent journey men left.

Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
He's pushing 40 now it's probably not the worst idea in the world. He's been one of if not the toughest journeyman in Britain over the last few years but you can't fight forever.
Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
He still has his pride but he's too heavy for a start. That Cardle lad really tried to beat the crap out of him and it was uncomfortable to watch. But he stayed the course. Very tough man.

I think weight gain can be a key indicator for a journyman nearing the end. Harder to mess a guy about when he's 5/7 pounds heavier than you are used too, and fit with it. Hard SoaB though!

Withdrawn as his weight was a huge concern to the Board. I believe it's going to an appeal hearing. Sid also got very complacent as of late.

Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
I know this is down to sids weight. He's getting weight off before going to see the board. SIDS had a tough time of late, lost his job & is his fathers full time carer. Sid is a great fella as well as the hardest git I know. Its a lovely thought but prospects won't be matched together.theyll get rid of journeymen like us then bring in east Europeans who fall straight over.the likes of Sid are much needed in today's small hall scene

Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
Nowadays the board withdrawing a licence might just make a boxer follow the unlicenced route. As there seems alot of promotions going that way. And the medical side is alot less strict.
Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
In theory it's the right idea, but until we stop seeing fat Latvians coming over to take a dive and spend a weekend at the seaside I'd rather they try and maintain the number of and quality of domestic journeymen.billy bessey wrote:Good on the bbbc they should make more of a stance on it. The lad has won 1 out of the last 86 rounds he has competed in this is a professional sport where people should try to win and be able to do so what other PROFESSIONAL sports has serial losers in it like ours?
P.s don't tell me cos his the away fighter he should have won a lot more than he has 1 round won from 86 good on you Bbbc let's see more of it
Razak can still handle himself, it's not as if he's getting his head kicked in routintely like Robin Deakin was.

Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
I think it is about age as well as rising in the weights, as you get towards 40 your punch resistance goes down, the board have done it to other fighters, don't think journeymen should fight past 35 in my opinion, they receive a lot of punishment and take fights at short notice against fully fit prospects and contenders.Bullets For You wrote:With respect Billy if the BBBC should 'make more of a stance' how would you have fared when still boxing? If you're advocating quality control about who and who shouldn't be allowed to box, have a look at some of your so called 'white collar' shows, even though the fighters are often as inept as each other usually NEITHER fighter is fit to be in a ring 'white collar' or not.
If Sid wants to continue with his career the board should demand he drops some weight and more importantly veto some of the bouts he takes.
Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
Billy, do yo think Sid has been overmatched or do you think he does not compete at all?

And 'prospects' will have to fight each other! Oh no! How terrible!bigped wrote:you keep on withdrawing guys like these licenses be no decent journey men left.
Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
That was all was ever going to happen when those 2 were in the ring under lights; the only real surprise is that Sid wasn't bashed and stopped. I agree with a point someone made earlier about people boxing to their level; there are men that Sid could box competitively against, it's better that he does that IMO. I feel I understand the distinctions within boxing with hopers, triers, journeymen, prospects, contenders and titlists. The journeyman band is the broadest with some excellent boxers capable of a real argument, no damage to themselves and the odd upset. The people at the bottom end though sould not be put in with red hot, ex england amateur flying machines.
Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
If only the BBBoC, or their equivalent local branches matched fighters instead of promoters....
Boxing is like WWE. In fact, when watching WWE with my kids today, I never had a clue who was going to win. Most of us can pick 95% of bouts listed on boxrecs schedule.

Re: Sid Razak's License Withdrawn
There are major issues with the way Managers / Promoters match the prospects that they handle, we are all to blame in some way!! If a prospect gets overmatched & beaten the whole team get stick for not doing there job properly, I know this is where a good matchmaker is needed but it is a very difficult thing to get right! I must say tho that, for me, journeymen, good ones, like Sid Razak, Johnny Greaves, Kristian Laight, Jason Nesbitt, Al Hamidi etc etc are great for the game, they provide vital rounds for prospects that need them, sometimes they are overmatched & they have to use every bit of skill, guile, intelligence & ringcraft to get through a fight, yes it's sometimes a hard watch but then so is seeing a good prospect getting beaten through bad matching!! I'd rather see Tommy Coyle vs Sid Razak than against some eastern european fall over merchant any day of the week, as for prospect vs prospect week in week out hahahaha I won't hold my breath!!!

Unfortunately Frank we will never get that & although I know promoters have to build their prospects up, but I have been I have seen cards on here where every boxer in the away column on the schedule page is red (Ie lost the last 6). Then surprisngly most fights finish 60-54 or 40-36. If the shows srent competitive then surely the fans will stop paying there hard earned...
