Ricardo Cardona
Leo Randolph
Sergio Victor Palma
Leo Cruz (whom Gomez KO'd earlier in a title defense).
Was there ever talk of a unification with the first four, and which one would've put up the best fight?

Leo Cruz--As you said, already KO'd him. Cruz was pretty tough, but Gomez would have gotten him around the 10th the next time
IMO, guys like Randolph and Cardona may have given him some difficultly early, but Gomez was too strong for them. Palma was a tough, strong mother, and that would have kept him in the fight, but he didn't have near Gomez's skills.

IMO, guys like Randolph and Cardona may have given him some difficultly early, but Gomez was too strong for them. Palma was a tough, strong mother, and that would have kept him in the fight, but he didn't have near Gomez's skills.

Possible, but he'd do it by running. And he wasn't a big runner.

Agree with you. No matter what WBA champ at the time of his reign, (1977-83) would have cope with his agressive and overwhelming style. Gomez was so good for that weight class. He did not had an opponent that could handle him.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He'd have beaten all of them handily.

Just rewatched Palma v Randolph again. Probably should have been stopped in the 1st. Had Palma been a big hitter, it wouldn't have lasted two minutes. Gomez v Randolph would have been HOF pro vs amateur

Can't remember.
