James Toney v . Andre Ward at 168
Who takes it?
Re: James Toney v . Andre Ward at 168
Ward would be in great shape. Who knows about Toney.
I think Toney wins in a best for best scenario but Ward would win more than he lost due to Toney's lack of discipline.

I agree here but with both at there best it would be a good fight.Ezzard wrote:Ward would be in great shape. Who knows about Toney.

Best vs Best? Toney would FORCE Andre to fight...and would have the tools to do so. AND could be every bit as slick in return. This is Toney's fight, and I would cover all Ward money.

Talking about their top conditions, I pick Toney. If prior to the fight Toney would have lost another battle against refrigerator and would have had weight-cut troubles, what could have affected his shape, or whatever, Ward could have easily used that. But talking about primes, I see Toney being a better fighter. James was more elusive, he could provide masterfully executed combinations from the positions, that on the first look could have been better for his opponents. Andre was more good in being viscous, an uncomfortable opponent to anyone on the edge of fouling. But Toney had more of a class, enough to deal with Ward's tricks. They both displayed approximately the same level of rationality, but Toney was more special and polished.

The only time Toney fought a top 168 fight he lost almost every round.

Lol, the same old blinkered attitude from Keith. Needless to say, Ward never boxed anyone comparable to a peak Roy Jones, so citing Toney's loss to him is hardly relevant. I think Toney would win a dull decision over SOG.
