Great cover on Boxing News

Post by MightyWarrior »

The Big fight Pacquiao/Marquez cover is the best I've seen in a long time.
So many previews there's no room for Erdei v Garay bill in Germany tonight.
What do people think of their American writer, Jim Brady?

Brady is an ok writer, nothing special. I recently bought his book "Boxing Confidential" which if you read the blurb on the back states that its " the hardest hitting expose of boxing ever written" its hardly that, its merely a regurgitation of all the scandals, fixes, bribes, rating scandals etc dating from the 1920s to the present day. very little original work and nothing new. waste of money really wouldnt recommend it

Black Lights is a better book on the seedy side of Boxing.

Yeah agreed. I steered clear of that book as I find even a paragraph of his writing hard enough going, let alone a whole novel.

That's the one, I saw it in the shops last week. Might give it a go.
I know I liked his Ali book, and Black Lights too, but some of his writing over at secondsout can be a little on the dull side sometimes ( draw back of being a lawyer I guess :D )

Brady is possibly the worst boxing writer I have ever read, matched only by Kellerman or Steve Farhood.

He just fills his reports with lame and unfunny non-sequiturs and 'jokes' - I mean what in god's name was all that stuff about cannibals in the Masoe-Ashira write up??????? :o
