There used to be plenty of boxing-themed bars and pubs ... Dempsey's was probably the best ... but they're few and far between now ...
I occasionally stop into Jimmy's Corner when I'm in NYC ... any others worth noting? ...

I don't know about what is clearly a Dempsey rip-off joint ... i.e. just some commercial venture designed to exploit The Champ's name ...littlepug wrote:went to new York for the first time in april, found Jimmys bar on the first night, brilliant place, the next night we watched porter v berto at Jack Dempseys bar which was pretty cool

Yeah ... that's why I said I don't know about it rather than just condemning it altogether ... Hell ... I'd go there to watch the fights, rub shoulders with the fans, yuck it up at the bar, and probably have a great time ...littlepug wrote:yeah kind of guessed that although it was pretty cool to watch a fight card and have a natter with some new York boxing fansSequitorian wrote:I don't know about what is clearly a Dempsey rip-off joint ... i.e. just some commercial venture designed to exploit The Champ's name ...littlepug wrote:went to new York for the first time in april, found Jimmys bar on the first night, brilliant place, the next night we watched porter v berto at Jack Dempseys bar which was pretty cool
