Smith's reach advantage could win him the fight.
Re: George Groves (WBA) vs. Callum Smith - June 2nd 2018
whats callums reach advantage? tbh i dont think of him as a guy who really uses the reach all that great
even though hes tall hes more of a hooker and guy who likes to get in there, especially to the body
skoglund did some good work with the jab and i dont think hes on groves level

Used his jab well tonight. I understand Groves is a much better boxer than Holzken.

Good fight this.
A few years ago I’d like Groves for this everyday but Smith's relative freshness will be a big factor for me. Groves is a very old 29 at this point.

i think groves would win a jab battle. ppl often just reduce a jab to reach but thats very simplisitc. groves imo is clearly a better 'boxer'. but i think callum is sturdier and he can really whip those hooks in, especially to the body.
callum a harder and far more technically sharp puncher than eubank imo. stamina seems good too. a bit plodding and lacking in head movement though on the down side.
callum was my pre-tourney fav and i guess ill stick with him. like i said in another thread, i think hes brought his best performances for his best competition.

Groves is the better boxer and by quite the margin. How can Smith beat him? - He'd have to show something he hasn't up to now.
I've not been overly impressed with Smith in his recent fights. Not saying he can't raise his game, but Groves is better than him at everything.

btw are shoulder dislocations something that cause long term damage?

I'd like to see Groves slam the right hand to smiths body opening the upright Smith for the overhand right

Think groves will jab his head off for a while but think smith could get him with body shots I was suprised to hear groves say smiths main attribute is his power I don't think smith is a massive power just whips monster hooks to the body

From what I’ve read on the nhs website- it says up to three months without using the shoulder in sporting activities - so as long as the shoulder was ok in three months from now, then he can start training and time wise things would be ok for the final

That would only give him a couple of weeks at most for sparring etc so it would be wise to postpone if that's at all possible.Terminator666 wrote: ↑25 Feb 2018, 09:46 From what I’ve read on the nhs website- it says up to three months without using the shoulder in sporting activities - so as long as the shoulder was ok in three months from now, then he can start training and time wise things would be ok for the final

That's a really good point. Buddy Mcgirt had problems with his shoulder- I don't know if it was a dislocation or what- but he became almost a one-armed fighter, seemed to stop throwing the left hook at all (his trainer screaming at him to 't'row da fucken hook!' at Whitaker)

Yeah - he probably would be ok to fight in 6 months which is usually the norm for top fighters rather than every three monthsbigjack wrote: ↑25 Feb 2018, 10:29That would only give him a couple of weeks at most for sparring etc so it would be wise to postpone if that's at all possible.Terminator666 wrote: ↑25 Feb 2018, 09:46 From what I’ve read on the nhs website- it says up to three months without using the shoulder in sporting activities - so as long as the shoulder was ok in three months from now, then he can start training and time wise things would be ok for the final
