Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
Quitting after this is the problem;
Not even mention about BJS's earlier comments about Dubois, and Joyce didn't do this to Dubois when he knew Dubois is going to lose.
When Ali's eyes were burning and couldn't see Sonny Liston due to blinding powder, Dundee told Ali; ''Run until you can see clearly again.'', so Ali run for a couple of rounds and tried to survive against one of the most fearsome boxers in the history.
BJS asked for a big size ring before the fight with Canelo, and even made an issue about this, so he could ''run around the ring'' freely when he likes ...
Just run then... Especially after all that trash talk and talk about Dubois. Why did you ask for a big ring?

Re: Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
BJS did a right thing with quitting, now he at least remains with both eyes.
He shouldn't apologize, bad mofos don't do it.

Pulling out in the corner isn't the problem here. Being a complete pudendum is.
Re: Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
I feel he should have stayed in there like a warrior and tried to finish the fight. That's me as a combat sports fan, but then again I'm not the one that was getting my ass kicked either.
It doesn't matter anyways, we will never see BJS fight again.

Re: Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
i dont really get this thread
you mean he shouldve fought in survival mode?
well i mean he pretty much stopped throwing and was focused entirely on not getting hit by that point

Re: Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
He did !!! What you think you witnessed is not what happened
What happed is that BJS put in a GREAT performance.. typically when he’s on his game.. against an Elite athlete.
The difference here, is that Canelo made him look like he was struggling at times, and later on it was looking almost obvious he was able to dial it up ANYTIME. Which he did with one punch. That’s all it took.
THATS the clear difference between a talented World champion, vs a true Elite multiple world champ.
Talent vs Exceptional talent.
Buncey and Costello talked a lot about how well he was doing at points etc, but it’s almost irrelevant chat..
I just wish his next fight was vs a PRIME Mayweather.
Re: Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
Just hate all this “he did well” talk when all he did was stay in the fight, is that what we give praise for now ? Not even having a real go ? It’s all gone a bit snowflakey for me, giving him a pat on the back because Canelo gave him a couple of rounds and then getting pulled out without any protest whatsoever, I’m sorry but the bar is set higher that that, we know it’s set higher because we’ve bloody seen it with our own eyes over the years, so don’t try and take a fainthearted attempt ending in a whimper and sell it to me as a warrior going out on his shield because I’m not buying it.xeo7 wrote: ↑10 May 2021, 17:42

People have very short memories. I have noticed how everyone online has reworked history on this to make Dubois into an innocent babe
Does no one recall Dubois trying to manufacture some needle before the Joyce fight and made a joke about Joyce's mom's blindness?

Good quit, dosent need to apologise to canelo teasing p4p number 1 money man who just broke your face... I’m sure canelo will be fine and it made the fight fun anyway.
Probably owes DDD an “I’m sorry” and judging by the way he carries himself many many more people.

Re: Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
Harsh but fair littlepug.
It was a good effort, but ultimately unsuccessful, and I guess humiliating really.
I think B.js boxed as well as he could, but was not at that super-elite level. It will be tough for him to come back from the injury.

Re: Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
Of course he should have quit its ridiculous to fight with a broken orbital bone.
Re: Quitting is Not the Problem for BJS
Just a bit more conviction would of been nice, you could tell from the off he didn’t believe in himself and wasn’t going to try and take control, can you imagine Calzaghe behaving like that? Anyway it’s not really about what he should of done it’s about getting patted on the back for just taking part, this sport has too long a history of great performances and moments to be reduced to that.Switch hitter wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 05:02littlepug wrote: ↑10 May 2021, 18:42Just hate all this “he did well” talk when all he did was stay in the fight, is that what we give praise for now ? In my opinion he was attempting to exert “a bit more conviction” from 5 on, which ultimately led to his demise.littlepug wrote: ↑11 May 2021, 09:50Just a bit more conviction would of been nice, you could tell from the off he didn’t believe in himself and wasn’t going to try and take control, can you imagine Calzaghe behaving like that?
