Ramirez / Taylor - Number of Viewers
Ramirez / Taylor - Number of Viewers
Not seen this anywhere else.
Eddie Hearn via IFL and retweets from people like Michael Bensonhas put out the quote that it was horribly promoted fight.
The truth?
"The #RamirezTaylor fight Saturday for the undisputed super lightweight title averaged 995k viewers and peaked during the end of the main event at 1.673 million. That doesn’t include viewers streaming on ESPN+. That number is ESPN only. Also does not include ESPN Deportes"
Good numbers and they used the Basketball to increase the viewers. They knew what they were doing.
Always check the Hearn narrative............

"Doesn’t include ESPN Deportes figures and also those that continued watching the event on the ESPN+ app."
the app has 8 million subs.
There may have been 2 million people watching on the app, that stayed watching on the app when the ESPN broadcast began.
Re: Ramirez / Taylor - Number of Viewers
But how many people watched in the UK?
That may have been what Hearn was getting at.
If the fight had been on sky, for example, you have to expect that it would have been much bigger on this side of the pond.

Re: Ramirez / Taylor - Number of Viewers
The fight was widely available across the whole of the US with a population of 330m and averaged 1m viewers. Substantially more people paid to watch Jake Paul’s last fight.
I would estimate something like 20,000 paid to watch it on Fite TV in the U.K., there was no buzz about it outside of hardcore fans and there was little to no mention on the mainstream media pre fight. I think that’s what Hearn was getting at.

Re: Ramirez / Taylor - Number of Viewers
Were the rumoured figures of 16,000 on Dazn for AJ-Pov ever confirmed?
Re: Ramirez / Taylor - Number of Viewers
But what does that matter? Did good US numbers. Got paid well. Great fight. Undisputed champ. We have different ideas of what good numbers are. It averaged around half of what Lomachenko/Lopez did last year.garethhop wrote: ↑27 May 2021, 18:30But what does that matter? Did good US numbers. I don’t disagree it was a great fight, he’s our best fighter and I hope he was paid well but the lack of promotion pre fight in the U.K. was criminal. I said on another thread that I asked a couple of casual boxing fan friends (who went to Haye/Klitschko, Fury/Klitschko and other fights abroad) if they were going to watch the fight and a couple of them hadn’t even heard of Taylor and I don’t know know one other person who bought the PPV.

I wouldn't have expected it to do even half of Loma-Lopez,

The promotion was terrible for Taylor in this country - Arum has shown already he can't do shit for his fighters in regards UK TV.
Taylor and his fans need to lay their ire at his promoter. No one else.

Re: Ramirez / Taylor - Number of Viewers
I’m not saying I would either (2.7m average for Loma/Lopez vs 1.0m for Taylor/Ramirez per Nielsen on ESPN so excludes app viewers). I just wouldn’t call averaging a bit less than 1m viewers on linear TV ‘good numbers’. TV in the US is different to the way it is in the U.K. in that it essentially doesn’t have a normal Freeview. Pretty much everyone pays for a TV subscription and ESPN is available to 95% of those subscription households so it’s as close to being comparable to Freeview.
