In 1987 Mike Tyson defeated Tony Tucker 116-112, 119-111 and 118-113.

So I could see Usyk going the distance, however he would have faced a ferocious attack.

We still haven't seen Usyk pushed to his limits yet.

Mike by UD. His size is comfortable for Usyk to run around, but the Rabbit won't be able to land enough to overcome clean Tyson's shots.

Great question. Great fight. Usyk has a solid chin and is a master boxer. Tyson’s speed at that age I believe carries the day. Usyk is very difficult to beat and his southpaw style could be a problem as well. Tyson was so fast with that great head movement. What a match up. Two hall of famers.

Usyk doesn't have that much power at heavyweight. It would've probaly took him 1 or 2 more rounds ;-)

But when we saw Tyson pushed to his limits, it tended to go badly for him.

You're not wrong, but Tyson's style could be what very well pushes Usyk to his limits. Interesting fight.

I am reminded of Tyson Holyfield.
Slightly off the rails Tyson, slightly shop worn Holyfield.
So a fresher Uysk Vs a peak Tyson I think would be a close decision going to Uysk.
Tyson was a wrecking ball in his prime but only if guys stood in front of him, Uysk has as good, if not better movement than Holyfield.

Usyk would be too smart to take this fight on for anything less than a tech giants ransom.

Tyson v Tucker was as close to Tyson v Ali as we got, and even then TNT had to dance a dangerous tightrope all night. Tucker was brilliant that particular night, and he had to be.

Usyk would be unlikely to do much better but it's not unthinkable that he could survive a very difficult 12 rounds.

It's almost criminal just how much he is underrated.

That 2nd fight with AJ might just be the most impressive one in the post Mike Tyson era.

I think Tyson would just hit the air and waste a lot of his energy with his neurotic peek a boo style. Usyk is a fine matador with great defense and footwork. Usyk is a strong fighter too.

Usyk on points I think. But could clearly get stopped at any moment.

Is it true Tyson never fought a southpaw as a pro? Remember reading that once can’t be bothered scrolling through th all though.:.

I predicted back then Holyfield would beat Tyson. Usyk is a better over-all boxer.

Tucker won the first rounds against Tyson, but broke his hand there, so the remaining part of the fight went so one-sided. Usyk definitely is better than Tucker and he's better than anybody Tyson met in the 80s.

However, Tyson would be better than anybody Usyk faced to this point and the Ukrainian hasn't indeed been pushed to the limit yet.

We saw Usyk being thrown in the uncomfortable quarters by Chisora and Joshua, while Tyson obviously was much more relentless, durable and fast than these two.

Judging by what we've seen from Usyk up to the date, I think it would be similar to the Tucker bout, but closer on official cards. Tyson's fast closings of the distance would be too much for Usyk, although the Ukrainian would be able to avoid clean shots on the most of occasions.

Luckily for Usyk, Tyson was great in closing the distance, but he wasn't a really good inside fighter, so there always would be clinches after Mike's attacks. Furthermore, Usyk can take a punch, thus it's fair to see the fight going the full distance.

Tyson by UD, 117-111, 116-112 2X.

Sounds right, since the Tillis bout was close and Usyk is much better than Tillis.

Also, Usyk would beat the post-1988 version of Tyson.

If it turns out Usyk is capable of beating Tyson Fury, which as of yet we're not sure of. It'll tell us more.

But I'll put it like this. If Usyk beats Fury. He'd beat Mike...ANY Mike.

Let's first wait and see, if this fight happens and how he beats Fury, if he beats him. Yet I confidently pick him to lose to Fury.

Another important aspect: Both fighters would need to be olympic style drug tested by WADA! :box:

I didn't know that. That would explain his reluctance of throwing more punches, of course beside of getting countered by Mike.

That would be a pretty damn big win for Usyk. Fury is a future HW HOF.

Usyk would've driven Mike mad in the end. if he was tiring and not getting any clean hits on the Ukrainian, he'd likely spit his gumshield out and bite the f@cker.

Afterwards, Usyk would smile and wink at the cameras, minus half an ear, saying: "I am feel. Very feel."

  :OhYes:

Usyk is a funny strange dude.

Mike wouldn't ever intimidate a guy like Usyk. Usyk has a very strong mindset.
