Al Jannetti was a boxing manager, referee, and promoter in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Jannetti promoted shows in Wilkes-Barre at the Gaiety Theatre.

On February 14, 1931, Jannetti was shot and killed during an armed robbery attempt at the Wilkes-Barre Harry Hughes Hotel. Jannetti, an innocent bystander, ran into one of the bandits while leaving the bar room. A tussle between the two men ensued. Shortly thereafter the other bandit called off the robbery saying: "It's all off, shoot them." Jannetti, 36, was fatally shot in the lung, and died shortly thereafter.

Phillip Cavan, Frank Leonard, and Clement Savage were convicted of first degree murder in Jannetti's death.
