Notes
- Andre Ward, BoxRec # 2 Super Middleweight, remains undefeated with the unanimous decision over BoxRec # 3 Carl Froch in a battle between the WBC and WBA world champions.
- Ward showed superior technical skill in the first ten rounds, out jabbing Froch and staying out of range, while Froch did better in the final two rounds as Ward tired.
- No power shots from Ward, but Froch just could not find the target, and when he did Ward tied him up very effectively.
- Two judges-American and Canadian-had the bout 115-113 for Ward, meaning if Froch won one more round the bout would have been a majority draw; the British judge had the bout 118-110 for Ward: Official Scorecards.
- Clean bout, no fouls or point deductions, outstanding job by neutral referee Steve Smoger who was favored by both sides.
- Froch did hit Ward after the bell of one round, but it appeared unintentional, with Froch perhaps unable to hear the bell due to the loud noise of the crowd in Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.
- Ward retains the WBA Super World Super Middleweight title, wins the WBC and Ring Magazine Super Middleweight titles, and the Super Six Tournament Super Middleweight Finals trophy.
- Boxing commentator Barry McGuigan stated "He (Ward) has capulted himself into the top ten pound for pound. That was a most magnificent performance. He diffused Froch's power by coming (moving) back, really beautiful stuff."
- Boxing commentator Glenn McCrory stated "When you see Ward slipping punches, and moving in and out of range, and beating Froch to the inside, Ward beat Carl at his own game."
- Boxing commentator Amir Khan noted the bout was "A top performance by both fighters."
- Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz and Light Heavyweight Champion Bernard Hopkins were at ringside. Hopkins' name was mentioned with Lucian Bute as possible future opponents for Ward.
