The Bachelors Club was located in Portland, Oregon's St. John's neighborhood, which was one of the top producers of boxing talent at the time, along with the Albina neighborhood.

The Bachelors Club was started in 1933 by Tex Salkeld, who at the time was a manager and trainer of boxers in the Portland area. It operated shows on Fridays nights initially. The shows were almost always filled with bouts of no more than four rounds in length. The club was designed to develop talent for the larger shows at the Portland Auditorium, which it often competed with on the weekly boxing calendar. Eventually Salkeld became the promoter at the Portland Auditorium, and would shut the venue down in late 1934, after running both Portland shows for a few months.

The club would occasionally resurface as a boxing venue during the late 1930s, and early 40s, putting on main events of a 6, 8, or 10 round length. Like most promotions in Portland during this period, the shows were not very successful financially.
