Bout Summary
A very tentative opening round saw both fighters feeling out their opponent and looking for counter-punching opportunities amid a spattering of boos from those in attendance. Action picked a bit in Rounds 2 and 3 as Solomon made a more concerted effort to attack a reluctant Hopkins. In Round 4, Hopkins worked behind a jab and landed a good right hand in close quarters. Solomon, in his normal style, moved around awkwardly at a distance and came in with lunging punches. Solomon distanced himself in the second half of the fight as Hopkins, who fought sluggishly, simply was not throwing and was being beaten to the punch. Hopkins was warned in Round 8 for punching Solomon to the hip while the two were clinched. He too was warned in Round 10 for excessive clinching.
