  • NABF Middleweight Title (Vacant Title)

"Counter-punching Denny Moyer became the first middleweight champion of the recently organized NABF Wednesday night on a unanimous 12-round decision over rugged Eddie Pace at the Silver Slipper Arena. Moyer, the former world junior middleweight champion from Portland, Ore., and Pace, the WBA's 3rd-ranked junior middleweight, both weighed 158 1/2. Pace forced the fight all the way and was a winner of three of the first four rounds. Moyer, however, began to get to his opponent with short rights to the jaw midway through the bout and finished strong for the unanimous decision. Moyer bled from the nose from the 2nd round on and Pace suffered a cut under the right eye in the 11th round. There were no knockdowns." -United Press International
