Elgin Moore
Name: Elgin 'Kid' Moore
Alias: Sultan Slasher
Hometown: Sultan, Washington, USA
Pro Boxer: Record
The exact date of birth for boxer Elgin Moore is unknown. The Dec. 24, 1928 Seattle Daily Times newspaper published an article on Moore, along with a photograph of him with his tutor, fellow lumberman and boxer Dode Bercot. The paper reported that he was 20-years-old at this time. It also reported that he had "lived all his life in logging camps around Sultan, so is tough and rugged." And that he "first got into his head about a year ago that he was a boxer." However, the latter statement appears to be untrue, unless his early bouts in nearby Everett, WA, were "amateur." At the time of this Seattle newspaper article, Moore's one reported defeat was a loss to Frankie Repoz, again apparently untrue unless Moore's early losses were four-round amateur bouts.
