Elton Owen was the son of Oregon boxing and wrestling promoter Herb Owen. He first appeared as a boxer on his fathers shows in Eugene, including a bout on November 10, 1925 against his older brother Don in Eugene. Owen later became a professional wrestler in the mid-1930s, wrestling and refereeing on his fathers shows in Eugene and Portland. Owen would then become the promoter of boxing shows in Eugene between the late 1930s and early 1950s, refereeing many of his shows in entirety. Owen would continue working in his family's successful wrestling empire, Pacific Northwest Wrestling, until his retirement in 1982.
