In an opening welterweight bout on the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs John Duddy fight card at the San Antonio Alamodome, San Antonio's Jose Juan Fuentes got decked by right hands thrown by Rogelio Barron of Fort Worth, Texas, in rounds one and three, but Fuentes still appeared to be the better conditioned fighter. Fuentes landed a series of overhand right hand leads on a tired defenseless Barron, who appeared out of gas and ready to go, to force the stoppage midway through the fifth round.
