Notes
- Melindo entered as the # 8 flyweight contender in the world according to The Ring Magazine. Rosas was unranked by the same publication. Melindo was also ranked as the WBO # 5, WBC # 6, WBA # 11, and IBF # 11 flyweight contender prior to the fight.
- Melindo is 12-0 (5 KOs) against non-Filipino opponents and 2-0 (1 KO) against Mexican fighters prior to the fight.
- This will be Rosas' first fight against a Filipino fighter and his first fight in the Philippines. He has a record of 1-2 (0 KO) outside his native Mexico.
- Melindo weighed-in at a comfortable 111 lbs, while Rosas outrageously weighed-in at 117 lbs in his first attempt. After being given an hour to shed off excess pounds, Rosas tipped the scales at 113.5 lbs, still above the flyweight limit, meaning that he would be ineligible to win the vacant title. Rosas was also penalized by having to wear 10-ounce gloves, and he would need to give Melindo 10% of his purse.
