"The bout opened fast with Armstrong taking the aggressive. He pounded away at Black's stomach repeatedly, never once taking a back step. The Reno fighter was content to use a short jab always aiming at the chin. On other occasions he appeared to rock Armstrong, but (Henry) came back for more on each occasion. Armstrong reopened Black's eye in the third round of the encounter and from then on he had the bout safe. He carried the Reno boxer through the sixth and seventh rounds, keeping his punches away from the injured eye. In the eighth round Armstrong stung Black with a powerful right and Black's handlers threw in the towel. Black suffered a deep gash on the top of his head earlier in the fight and was bleeding badly when the bout ended." Nevada State Journal
