- After a brief stoppage due to a referee's warning for punching off the break to both fighters, the clock either malfunctioned or did not work, leading to a near six minute round.
- Carrasquillo, 38, eight years older than Davis, just looked for a right hand bomb all night. Carasquillo won only the seventh round as Davis tired a bit.
- Davis appeared to win every round except the seventh, switching from orthodox to southpaw and jabbing and moving, not offering any kind of a target to the come forward Castillo.
