David Rodriguez 254 lbs lost to Darnell Wilson 239 lbs by KO at 2:59 in round 6 of 6

  • A left hook from the Ding-A-Ling Man AKA 39 year old Darnell Wilson exposed the padded 34-0 31 kayo record of overhyped David Rodriguez, who had not fought in over two years. Wilson, whose 45 bout professional resume includes wins over Juan Carlos Gomez, Emmanuel Nwodo, Dale Brown, Daniel Judah and Kelvin Davis, an experienced heavyweight gatekeeper who tested the most dangerous fighters in the division for over a decade, had lost the six round fight on the cards to Rodriguez. Wilson knew he would need a knockout in Atlantic City and he got it, knocking out Rodriguez for the full ten count at 2:59 of round six. Given Wilson's resume of hard core experience against the best fighters in the business, and the 36-0 Rodriguez' lack of experience against any good fighters, the outcome was still a shocker. Rodriguez also lost an out-of-the-ring fight previous to this loss, when he was viciously slashed on the left side of his face from earlobe to chin by an unidentified black male with a knife during a violent nightclub altercation in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Friday, December 30, 2011, and nearly bled to death. Rodriguez was also recovering from a knee injury.
