- Melson fights and wins the final bout by majority decision at historic Roseland Ballroom.
- Final appearance on the ring apron for New York State Athletic Commission Chief Inspector Felix Figueroa (1952-2014), who held the position for two decades, one of New York State professional boxing's most respected officials and individuals. Sadly, Figueroa died on a heart attack in a New York City hospital during emergency open heart surgery on Valentine's Day Friday, February 14, 2014, less than 48 hours later.
- 50 rounds matched and 50 rounds made in the final card at Roseland Ballroom in New York City, a great success for matchmaker Joe Quiambo of DiBella Entertainment. The card ended just before a snowcopalypse hit New York City, burying lower New York State in snow.
- Melson appeared to injure his right arm in round four, and his right eye was bruised. However he continued to apply pressure and mix it with the rough tough Ward for all eight rounds to win a convincing majority decision in the main event of the final boxing card at historic Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan. Celebrities in attendance included Peter Quillin, Junior Jones, Harold Lederman and actress Rosie Perez. Promoter Lou DiBella remarked after the card how DiBella Entertainment had brought exciting boxing club shows, featuring local talent, to the venue.
- After the bout, Melson was diagnosed with a stretched brachial plexus, which controls all of the movement and feeling from his collar bone down to his fingertips.Melson Reflects on Paralyzing Experience
