Heather Hardy 121 lbs beat Crystal Hoy 121 lbs by MD in round 10 of 10

  • Hardy used jab combinations moving side to side to outwork Hoy and win the World Boxing Council International Junior Featherweight title. The shorter Hoy came forward but was unable to get inside for most of the bout, and was unable to cut off the ring, so the bout went around in circles. There were no holds, clean 10 round championship bout. Hoy appeared to win only the fourth round, and despite one even scorecard the bout was not close. The referee warned Hardy once for low blows. Both women entered the 10 rounder in top condition, and emerged from the bout without injury. Harold Lederman, Peter Quillin, Monte Barrett, John Duddy and Junior Jones were among those boxing luminaries in attendance. First boxing card to be held in New York State after the three knockdown rule was eliminated. WBC Supervisor in Attendance: Jill Diamond.
