- Geale wins the battle of Australian middleweight contenders. Both Geale and Fletcher were coming off losses in World Boxing Association world title bouts, Geale, Gennady Golovkin, and Fletcher, Daniel Jacobs. Geale knocked down Fletcher in the fifth round for a 10-8 round to win the 12 round decision outright. The interim WBO Asia Pacific belt was at stake, for a WBO world middleweight ranking and a shot at the regular World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific champion, unbeaten prospect Arif Magomedov of Russia.
