Galento won a clearcut decision against Petrin, in their meeting, after having fought two draws before. Galento dominated from the start, as Petrin was unable to hold him off. Petrin went down in the 1st and 2nd rounds, but the Newark Evening News felt that neither were knockdowns. Petrin appeared very tired in the late rounds, as Galento appeared to fight more of a methodical fight, only choosing to punch when Petrin was in range. Galento won all the rounds on the referee's card other than the 6th, which Petrin won, and the 8th which was even.
