Petrin fought effectively in the first rounds rounds as he punched effectively at close quarters, while tying up Galento and preventing him from getting going offensively. Galento came closest to scoring a knockdown in the 5th round, when he caught Petrin with a series of blows along the ropes. Galento had the edge in the later rounds, as he was the aggressor against Petrin, who fought more defensively. This was a dirty bout with boxers healing, and Petrin opening a cut over Galento's left eye in the 8th round with a headbutt.
Scoring by the referee was; Petrin (3rd, 4th, 7th, 9th), Galento (2nd, 5th, 8th, 10th), and 1st and 6th even.
