McDaniels cut Garrison in the mouth in the 1st round, and opened a cut over his left in the 4th round. McDaniels controlled the bout from start to finish, only losing the first round. Referee Callahan, nearly stopped the bout due to the cut in the 4th round, but let the bout continue as Garrison was hampered by it and an injured hand the whole fight.

McDaniels substituted for Earl Turner, who was ill.
