Azevedo attempted to run-out on the main event, due to the small crowd, until he was given a larger guarantee from Frank Scaler. This delayed the start of the main event by nearly an hour. Dampier dished out a one-sided beating to Azevedo, reportedly breaking his nose and leaving his face smeared with blood. Azevedo who went back to the corner on unsteady legs to end the 3rd round, did not come out for the 4th round.
