Frank Burns (Eric Barnes) was the Australian middleweight champion in 1921. Burns claimed the title by knocking out the highly-regarded Tommy Uren. He successfully defended it against Jimmy Clabby and Uren in the same year.
In 1922, Burns fought Hall-of-Famer Ted (Kid) Lewis for the Commonwealth Middleweight Title, but was knocked in the eleventh round.
Burns was the father of Australian Boxing Hall of Fame member George Barnes.
