Frankie Martin 118 lbs beat Harry Gerson 118 lbs by UD in round 12 of 12

  • Canadian Bantamweight Title (2nd defense of Martin)

Notes

  • According to the Montreal Gazette: "There was an impasse just before the main bout went on, caused by the announcement of Lou Wyman, Gerson's chief handler, of his refusal to allow his boy to fight if Tommy Callary acted as judge. Alderman Frank Hogan, chairman of the Commission, dealt with the matter tersely and effectively by saying "Two minutes to make up your mind or you get a $25 fine and suspension". The fight went on and at the end Messrs Slitkin and Slotkin were sporting enough to have no criticism of the unanimous verdict of the three judges".
  • Gerson cut over the left eye in round 7 as result of numerous punches from Martin.
  • According to the October 3, 1935 edition of the Montreal Gazette, Martin won rounds 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12, while Gerson won rounds 1, 2 and 10. Rounds 4 and 8 were judged even.
