Frank Smith (aka Frankie J. Smith) was an outstanding amateur boxer from the south side of Chicago, Smith was trained by coach Gene Kelly at Wentworth Gardens. Smith won multipule Chicago Golden Gloves, C.P.D. and C.Y.O. City titles in the 1970's. Smith had several bouts across the U.S.A. and overseas versus International competition. Smith went on to work for the Chicago Park District (C.P.D.) and became the head coach for Stateway Park at the Stateway Gardens projects on Chicago's South Side.
