According his obituary in the June 10, 1967 edition of The Morning Call (Allentown, Pennsylvania), Edward J. "Eddy" Moy died at the age of 75 in Trenton, New Jersey on June 9, 1967. Regarded at one of the best known Leigh Valley, Pennsylvania professional boxers, Moy fought as a bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight during his career. He was born in Tomhicken, a village located near Hazleton, Pennsylvania. After his boxing career ended, Moy went on to operate Moy's Steak Shop in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, where he lived for about fifty years. His survivors included a wife, a daughter and five sisters.
According to his draft card in digital form on the U.S., World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 database on Ancestry.com, one Edward James Moy was born on August 29, 1891 in Hazelton, Pennsylvania. At the time of his registration on June 5, 1917 in Chatham Township, New Jersey, Moy work as a "Farmer" for "Freddie Welch." He claimed his father and mother as dependents while asking for an exemption due to deafness.
