Harry Wallach was a sothpaw out of New York's East Side, and a nephew of old-timer Leach Cross. He reportedly won 93 consecutive bouts as an amateur, losing to Joe Salas in the Olympic trials/National AAU finals. Wallach had beat Jackie Fields in the semi-finals. Member of 1924 Olympic team at 126 pounds.

Wallach was ranked as high as the #5 junior welterweight in the world between June 1928 and January 1929 by The Ring magazine.
