On March 19, 1930---Sammy Levine representing Chicago won an Intercity Golden Gloves championship in the 2nd division at flyweight vs. Jimmy Hughes. Levine actually started his professional career in Minneapolis in December 1928 then apparently went back to fighting as an amateur in 1929-30 principally in Chicago where he won a Intercity Golden Gloves Title in 1930 as stated above.
