- November 2008 - Saunders was arrested on suspicion of dealing cocaine after police dogs in executing a warrant discovered a large quantity of the drug in he and his girlfriend's back garden. [1]
- On April 17, 2009 it was announced that Saunders would not face charges as the British CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) decided not to proceed with the case. [2]
- Saunders did not box for over 21 months, after suffering two broken hands in his defeat to Renald Garrido.
