Jack Dill was said to have started his professional boxing career around 1915. He fought under that name early in his career in Oklahoma. At least one contemporary newspaper article reported that he had the boxing alias of "Jack (Cyclone) Dill" once he moved to the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.
Report below photograph says he had 5 bouts in Mexico.
He once had his jaw cracked prior to December 1925 by John (Chief Birdeye) Budnick, according to another local newspaper account. Also said to have boxed Jack Dempsey in early 1925 during an exhibition bout, and to have fought Harry Foley. The Bellingham American (Bellingham, WA, USA) newspaper of Oct. 19, 1925 reported that Dill once "decisioned" Dempsey. (This may have been the exhibition.)
