According to The Morning Herald October 6, 1939 James Fox a.k.a. Jimmie Dime had passed away in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He was born in County Tipperary Ireland the son of Patrick and Mary Fox and came to the United States at age 3. The family settled in Vermont. Jimmy went to Massachusetts at age 20 and befriended a runner named Jack Hartley and followed him to Amsterdam, NY where he was a runner and prize-fighter. His brothers were P.J. Fox of Amsterdam and Michael J. Fox of Bloomfield, New Jersey. His brother boxed as Mike Dime.According to the New Castle News October 5, 1939, there was already a famous foot racer named Jimmie Fox so Fox chose the monkier Dime when he started racing and it stuck.Dime relocated from Troy, NY to New Castle PA in 1902. Dime was reportedly the boxing instructor for Theodore Roosevelt and his sons while Roosevelt was Governor of New York State according to the October 6, 1939 edition of The Evening Star.
