Juan Hernandez Sierra (Born: March 16, 1969), representing Cuba, would twice win a silver medal at Welterweight in the Olympics, in 1992 at Barcelona and 1996 at the Atlanta Games. He then competed as a Light Middleweight at the 2000 Olympics. Hernandez was also a four-time world amateur champion at welterweight, capturing the crown in 1991, 1993, 1995, and 1999; while taking the bronze in 1997. Hernández also took the gold medal at the 1991 and 1999 Pan-American games.
Defeated future professional World Champions Kostya Tszyu, Charles Murray, Julio Cesar Green, David Reid and Daniel Santos. Defeated fellow Olympic Gold Medalists Vyacheslav Yanovski, Oleg Saitov, David Reid, Ariel Hernandez, Yermakhan Ibrayimov and Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov.
