In the lone heavyweight bout of the night on the seven-bout card of Marshall Kauffman's King's Promotions, Julio Cesar Matthews of Reading, Pennsylvania, now 3-0 with 1 KO, outlasted veteran Kevin Hood of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, now 5-8-1 with no KOs, in round 3 of a scheduled 4-rounder.
Hood had a good first round, Matthews, who returned to the ring after an eleven year absence, had a good second round. Hood was knocked down in round 2 and got up and finished the round, but appeared to be tiring. During round 3, Hood collapsed from exhaustion without being knocked down, prompting the referee to stop the bout.
Former World Heavyweight Champion Hasim Rahman was at ringside. A scheduled exhibition between heavyweights Travis Kauffman and Dayton Wheeler did not take place, so another bout was substituted on the card.
