Ken Goff

Kenneth George Horace Goff was born on March 2, 1910 in Bournemouth, England and passed away January 26, 1993 at the age of 82. Ken immigrated to Canada with his parents George and Mabel Goff in 1913 to Regina, Saskatchewan. At the age of 14, he was introduced to boxing at the local Y.M.C.A. At the age of 26, Ken decided to retire from active competition to concentrate on coaching and instituted the Olympic Boxing Club which was located in the Regina Y.M.C.A. Soon after, he further extended boxing into the community by teaming with the Regina City Police to form the Regina Police Athletic Association. In 1949, Ken established the Regina Boxing Club Inc., which is still running strong today.

Outside of boxing, Ken led a very full and productive life. Together with his wife Margaret, they raised a large, beautiful family consisting of four children (Beverley, George, Peggy, Penny, and a fifth Ken Jr. died), eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was employed by the City of Regina where he rose to the position of Deputy Treasurer and retired after 35 years of service. Besides his family and work Ken was also among the most known and respected men in Regina.

He was the Assistant Coach of the 1948 Canadian Olympic Games Boxing Team, and the Coach and Manager of the 1956 Canadian Olympic Games Boxing Team.
