He remained active in Germany and Switzerland during the early stages of his career and gradually increased the level of his opposition.
During 2018, Xhoxhaj recorded several significant victories over opponents with winning records. He defeated Jozsef Darmos by decision before recording stoppage victories over Jakub Synek and Ervin Dzinic.
The victories helped establish Xhoxhaj as an emerging European prospect.
He continued his undefeated run with victories over Mirza Mrkonjic, Milans Volkovs, Flavio Morri and Predrag Jevtic.
UBF Inter-Continental Heavyweight Championship
On December 27, 2020, Xhoxhaj returned to Kosovo to face experienced Hungarian Tamas Lodi.
Xhoxhaj defeated Lodi after four rounds to capture the vacant ‘’‘Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) Inter-Continental Heavyweight Championship’’’.
The championship represented Xhoxhaj’s first significant professional title and marked his progression from undefeated prospect to international titleholder.
UBO International Cruiserweight Championship
After defeating Ferenc Urban in July 2021, Xhoxhaj returned to Kosovo on December 27, 2021, exactly one year after winning the UBF championship.
He faced Finland’s Marko Mononen for the vacant ‘’‘UBO International Cruiserweight Championship’’’.
Xhoxhaj stopped Mononen in the opening round to capture the title and maintain his undefeated professional record.
Move toward heavyweight contention
Xhoxhaj continued competing while moving increasingly into the heavyweight division.
In January 2023, he stopped Anton Sjomkin before facing Milosav Savić on May 27, 2023. Their eight-round contest ended in a split draw, the first draw of Xhoxhaj’s professional career.
Xhoxhaj returned to winning form in 2024. He stopped Semir Dautovic and later defeated Vaclav Trojacek by second-round stoppage.
Those victories positioned him for the biggest opportunity of his professional career.
EBU European Heavyweight Championship
On November 23, 2024, Xhoxhaj challenged undefeated Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksandr Zakhozhyi for the ‘’‘EBU European Heavyweight Championship’’’ in Heidelberg, Germany.
Zakhozhyi entered the contest as the defending European champion and possessed a significant height and reach advantage.
Xhoxhaj was knocked down early in the contest but recovered and subsequently scored a knockdown of his own. After twelve rounds, Xhoxhaj was awarded a unanimous decision, becoming the EBU European heavyweight champion while preserving his undefeated professional record.
The victory represented the most significant championship accomplishment of Xhoxhaj’s career to that point.
Xhoxhaj vs. Aliev
Xhoxhaj made his first defense of the European heavyweight championship against undefeated French heavyweight Mourad Aliev on June 7, 2025, at Universum Gym in Hamburg, Germany.
Aliev entered the contest undefeated and was a former Olympic competitor who had represented France at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The championship bout went the full twelve-round distance.
Xhoxhaj retained his EBU European heavyweight championship by unanimous decision, with judges scoring the contest 115-113, 114-113 and 115-112.
The victory also earned Xhoxhaj the ‘’‘WBC International Silver Heavyweight Championship’’’.
The win strengthened Xhoxhaj’s position in the international heavyweight division and represented his second consecutive victory over an undefeated opponent in a major championship contest.
Second European title defense
Xhoxhaj made another defense of his European heavyweight championship against Pezhman Seifkhani on February 14, 2026, at the Hallensportzentrum in Lahr, Germany.
Xhoxhaj successfully retained the championship by stopping Seifkhani in the fourth round.
The victory improved his professional record to ‘’‘22 wins, no losses and one draw, with 17 victories by knockout’’’.
Fighting style
Xhoxhaj fights from an orthodox stance and has competed professionally in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions.
A significant portion of his victories have come inside the distance.
