Bout Summary
- In an upset, WBC #8 flyweight and reigning and defending OPBF Flyweight Champion Masafumi Okubo loses his title to challenger Rocky Fuentes by twelve-round majority decision.
- Okubo was able to hold his own and happily traded punches with Fuentes at the beginning of the bout. But as the fight went on, Fuentes' left hook started to land more and more. Fuentes used a wide array of punches, using left uppercuts when Okubo had a high guard followed up by left and right hooks when Okubo lowered it. The then-champion was unable to match the activity and work rate of the challenger which proved to be the deciding factor on the judges' scorecards.
