Michael Katz was the boxing writer for the New York Times from 1972 to 1985.
The Boxing Writers Association of America awarded him the Nat Fleischer Memorial Award for "Excellence in Boxing Journalism" in 1981.
Katz became the boxing writer for the New York Daily News in 1985. He left in 2000 to start covering the sport on the Internet. He has written for Houseofboxing.com, Maxboxing.com and Boxingscene.com.
He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame (Observer Category) in 2012.
